Tuesday morning, S3 finalized its acquisition of OneStep, the development house responsible for the Audio Manager software that comes bundled with Diamond Multimedia's Rio PMP 300 and 500 portable MP3 players. Audio Manager can also be found on RioPort.com, Diamond's official portal for Rio owners.
"The purchase of OneStep clearly shows our intent to continue playing a leading role in the rapidly emerging Internet music market," said RioPort president David Watkins. "This is a key step for RioPort and demonstrates S3's commitment to providing financial backing for RioPort while we spin out to be an independently managed company."
Diamod recently signed a promotional deal with MTV and plans to cross-promote the music network's top hits on RioPort.com. The company's latest Rio product, the Rio 500 portable MP3 player, is scheduled to ship later this month.
