Riot Games' Nick Allen revealed Riot's game plan for the Spring Promotion Tournament which will be coming up in September. Both EU and NA teams will head out to the LCS Studio in Los Angeles to try and qualify for next year's Spring Split. They'll be battling it out on the Rift between the 9th and 11th of September 2014.
As per usual, the bottom three teams from the LCS will defend their spot against the upcoming teams from the Challenger Circuit. Allen also states that having these Promotion Tournaments ensures that the best teams enter the LCS and that it's a chance to shake up the scene.
The qualifiers are hosted earlier this year as Riot wants the teams that qualify to prepare to the fullest for the LCS. This way the teams that don't make it will also have more time to pick up their game and figure out what their next step is without losing a couple of months first. Furthermore, the talks of LCS' expansion still continue and Allen says that they'll post regular updates as the plans become more clear.
