Resident Evil Village Guide – How to Solve The Ablution Statue Puzzle
Resident Evil Village Guide – How to Solve The Ablution Statue Puzzle-November 2024
Nov 23, 2024 3:39 PM

Resident Evil Village is filled with gory scenes and grotesque monsters but there's still something deeply unnerving about something called the Ablution Room. This large bathroom is centred around a huge bath filled with blood, hopefully, surrounded by four statues. For anyone that has played a Resident Evil game before, these statues are obviously something that can be rotated and played with in some manner to progress. For anyone that hasn’t this can be a little overwhelming.

Either way, this guide will explain everything you need to do to solve the Ablution Room statue puzzles, and I promise not to make any more poo jokes. There aren’t any spoilers in this guide, besides mentioning that the Ablution Room exists inside Castle Dimitrescu though, so that’s good.

The Ablution Room Riddle In Resident Evil Village

Inside the Ablution Room, you will find four statues, a man on a horse, a woman with a wine bottle, a fancier woman with a wine glass, and a group peasants with some grapes. Each statue can be rotated 90 degrees, so they can face the statue on their left or right, but not the one diagonally over the blood pool. On the far side of the room there is a plaque with a riddle on it, giving you a clue as to how to arrange these statues.

“Women are blind to male advances, but the poor shall take their chances

to give their lord their bounty sown, so that soon the wine may flow”

This is the only clue you’ll receive to solve this puzzle, but it's all you need to do so. The most important clue is that the women are blind to the men, meaning they can’t be looking at them.

The Ablution Room Solution In Resident Evil 8

To drain the water from the pool you’ll need to make sure that each statue is pointing in the right direction, using the riddle to align them correctly.

The peasants (“the poor” in the riddle) will need to face the horseman (“their lord”). The horseman will need to face the woman with the wine bottle but she cannot face him (“blind to male advances”). Likewise, the fancier woman with the wine glass cannot face the peasants.

So, that means that the two women will have to face each other. Once you’ve got all the statues properly aligned (see the above images), the liquid in the pool will flush away, allowing you to access the bloody bowels of the castle.
