Red Faction slips to May
Red Faction slips to May-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 10:32 PM

Brian Farrell, president and CEO of THQ, revealed today that Red Faction, its ambitious first-person shooter for the Sony PlayStation 2, has been delayed to May. "We have decided to move the release of Red Faction, our eagerly anticipated PS2 title, until May, when we expect a much healthier PS2 market," Farrell explained. "We believe that Red Faction has the potential to be a groundbreaking brand in its genre, and the additional time will ensure that Red Faction meets those expectations,"

The company additionally announced that it expects to meet or exceed analysts' earnings expectations for the fourth quarter of 2000 due to strong holiday sales. THQ said that it expects net earnings for 2001 to be in the range of $1.35 to $1.45 per diluted share. A large part of that will be fueled by the expected release of the Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and the Game Boy Advance, along with strong sales and further availability of the Sony PlayStation 2. THQ plans to release 25 games for those platforms in the second half of 2001.
