After a very long time, Red Dead Redemption 2 has finally been confirmed last month for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Outside the reveal trailer, which didn't tell us much, very little has been said about the game, but it looks like it will offer a rather emotional story, according to the Take-Two CEO.

　　Speaking with GameSpot about Red Dead Redemption 2, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the reaction to last month's announcement, noting how the trailer has been more popular than anticipated. He also feels like the time is right for the game to show a different view of America.

　　"The conventional wisdom was of course that a western wouldn't work. We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public. When we launched Red Dead, it did. And those times were right for that. And I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again--and that's not meant to be cute."

　　The Red Dead Redemption 2 story will also offer incredible emotional depth, which will be vastly enhanced by great gameplay elements.

　　"You can expect there to be great story elements and great gameplay elements."

　　Red Dead Redemption 2 launches next year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in all regions. A PC version hasn't been announced, but some players are trying to show Rockstar and Take Two that there's plenty of interest on the platform for the game with a petition. According to analysts, this isn't necessary, though, as the game will be later released on PC almost certainly.
