Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Won’t Support Ray Tracing on AMD GPUs at Launch-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 9:34 AM

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will not support ray tracing on AMD GPUs at launch, developer Nixxes Software confirmed today.

On the game's PC performance tuning page on the Insomniac Games support website, which was updated today, it was confirmed that those playing the game on AMD GPUs will not be able to enjoy it with ray tracing. It seems like there are some technical issues behind the decision of disabling ray tracing, as the developer confirmed it is working closely with AMD to enable support as soon as possible.

The PC performance tuning page goes pretty in-depth to explain how each graphics setting impacts visuals and performance. Make sure to read it in full if you're planning to get the game and have a great experience right from the beginning.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will support, alongside NVIDIA DLSS 3 and RTX IO, DirectStorage 1.2 with GPU decompression, enabling higher bandwidth for streaming assets from storage to the graphics card that will lead to better performance. Surprisingly enough, an SSD is not required to play Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart despite Insomniac Games stating multiple times before release how important it was for the game.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is now available on PlayStation 5. The game will release on PC tomorrow, July 26th.
