Radeons renamed
Radeons renamed-October 2024
Oct 18, 2024 8:20 AM

In conjunction with the release of the Radeon 7500, ATI has rebranded its existing line of Radeon desktop graphics cards. The Radeon VE, a 32MB dual-monitor card with reduced 3D capabilities, is now known as the Radeon 7000, and its price has dropped to $79. The Radeon DDR 64MB card, a robust and popular gaming card, is now the Radeon 7200, and its price has come down to $99. The principal difference between the Radeon 7200 and the 7500 is that the new card has a much higher clock speed--270MHz.

The newly renamed cards will soon be available in retail stores. Recent ATI cards, including the Radeon and Rage 128 families, will support Windows XP via new drivers that should be ready for download when the new OS is released on October 25.
