Quake in Living Color-October 2024
Oct 28, 2024 6:26 AM

Readers will remember VGS editors got a chance to play the game at Midway's Gamers' Day last month. Well, today the company released screen shots of its upcoming shooter.

Here's what we had to say: "Though still some three months away from completion, the Nintendo 64 version of Quake was looking fairly good. All 25 PC levels will be in the game, as well as six deathmatch arenas where two players can battle it out over a split screen.

The graphics contain an RGB lighting effect that makes the coloration seem very red and brown, purportedly because the developers are trying to emulate the GL version of Quake. A major disappointment was that the game's default controller setting was the same as the horrible configuration of Doom 64, though hopefully this will change to the much more natural GoldenEye 007 setup by its March release."

Be sure to click the following shots to see the lighting effects, which apparently aren't limited to these colors.
