3dfx Interactive has posted all sorts of shots of specialized demos of its T-buffer technologies that it says will help enhance the graphical quality of current and future games when those users have the new Voodoo5 video cards (Voodoo4 card won't support T-Buffer).
Finally, the company has released several shots of Quake III Arena using the technologies, and it looks like gamers will be impressed to say the least. The first noticeable change in the Q3A's graphics quality is anti-aliasing. Lines appear cleaner, and diagonal lines take on a real-world quality instead of a step ladder-like aliased look. The second T-Buffer technology used in the shots is motion blurring. As characters move onscreen, they can be programmed to have slow tracing effects lag behind them, and in Quake III Arena, the effect could give gamers an eerie dreamlike feeling.
We look forward to seeing the final product and more screenshots.
