Gamers rejoice! After having had to endure the gloating and banter of Linux and Mac users for more than two weeks, the rest of us can now experience Q3Test.
Late last night id Software finally released the Win32 version of Q3Test, the test candidate of its upcoming Quake III: Arena. The download isn't a demo - rather, it is intended to let players test a portion of Quake III: Arena's graphics and multiplayer code for any glitches or bugs. Id encourages everyone who downloads Q3Test to e-mail the company with any problems they run into.
Q3Test is currently in its third testing phase, and id Software-founder John Carmack has stated that at least three additional testing phases will take place before an official "demo" becomes available. Quake III: Arena is expected to hit store shelves later this year.
