GT Interactive and 3D Realms are calling it a virtual casting call (the first ever), but what it really means to gamers is the chance to win a custom-designed Duke Nukem leather jacket or to have their likeness appear in the upcoming Duke Nukem: A Time to Kill PlayStation game.
Reporting that Duke Nukem has gone underground in order to clear his name following what they're calling the "Vegas Incident," GT and 3D Realms say they "must be ready with a Duke replacement" should the action game hero fail to reappear.
Thus their virtual casting call contest.
Those who want to be the "new Duke" are required to submit (via e-mail or snail mail) a photograph of themselves as their version of Duke Nukem, and they'll have to submit answers to an online quiz "designed to judge their understanding of the Duke persona." Contestants must be US residents 17 years or older and must respond no later than May 15. Gamers in Tennessee are out of luck, however, since the contest is void in that state and "where prohibited or restricted by law."
