Oct 22, 2024 2:24 AM

According to Famitsu.com, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced release dates and prices for two major peripherals for the PlayStation Portable.

A PSP camera, called the Chotto Shot in Japan (PSPJ-15003), and the creatively named GPS Receiver (PSP-290) will go on sale on November 2 and December 7, respectively. The camera will sell for 5,000 yen, about $43, while the GPS kit will cost would-be backseat drivers 6,000 yen, around $51. Sony Computer Entertainment has not yet announced US or European prices or dates for either add-on.

The Chotto Shot will ship with editing software for tweaking stills and movies. In addition to helping lost gamers find their way around, the GPS Receiver will be incorporated into games by both Sony and third parties, including Konami's Metal Gear Solid; Portable Ops. Both peripherals will be shown off at the upcoming 2006 Tokyo Game Show, which starts September 22.
