PS5 Screenshots Now Shareable In PlayStation App For Select Regions
PS5 Screenshots Now Shareable In PlayStation App For Select Regions-October 2024
Oct 28, 2024 4:25 PM

Sony is rolling out a limited-release PS5 beta feature where players can share in-game screenshots and video clips through the PlayStation app. It is currently limited to Canada and Japan only, so if you're a US player reading this, you can't access the feature (yet).

How it works: After enabling the auto-upload feature on the PS5, game screenshots and videos taken on the PS5 will automatically get uploaded to the PlayStation app. The media will then be available in the app for 14 days, and from the app, players can download the photos to their camera roll and post them to social media. Video captures will also include audio from the players' mics, if enabled. There are limitations: Videos must be under three minutes long and non-4K. Trophy moments and Activity Challenge auto-captures will not be uploaded.

Now Playing: The Road to PS5

iOS users in Canada and Japan can now immediately download the update to their PlayStation app and access the screenshot sharing function. Android users will need to wait: The release will be "phased and may take one week" until Android devices can get the update.

A limited-release beta enabling PS5 players in Canada and Japan to share their captured screenshots and game clips through PlayStation App is starting to roll out today. For details, check out: https://t.co/afVHXLbJsZ pic.twitter.com/WMVWqHP1GY

It's unknown how long this beta feature will be available. Sony made the disclaimer that it can end or modify the beta rollout anytime, and that this screenshot sharing function may not make it to the final product or may be significantly modified.

A way to more easily share in-game screenshots has been requested by players, along with a laundry list of other desired features for the PS5. Though, it may be the case that a majority of players want to own a PS5 more than anything right now, especially since it's still incredibly hard to buy one at retail price.

Sony has been rolling out PS5 updates gradually. The most recent PS5 update included storage expansion and 3D audio options. You check out the full rundown of the latest PS5 updates, as well as PS5 improvements that the GameSpot staff would like to see.
