Florida lawyer Jack Thompson has made it well known that he doesn't like video games much. The attorney, who is currently facing the possibility of being disbarred from his profession of a decade, has been one of gaming's most vocal critics in the past few years.

　　However, not everyone in the legal profession seems to share his point of view. Sandra Day O'Connor, America's first female Supreme Court judge, has announced that she is working on a game to educate US citizens about how the legal system works, reports Reuters.

　　The 78-year-old, who is now retired after serving more than 25 years on the job, has become involved in a game project called "Our Courts." The game is being developed by Georgetown University law school and Arizona State University and will be available for free online.

　　O'Connor explained, "It will allow students to engage in real legal issues... If we can capture just a little bit of that time to get them thinking about government and civic engagement rather than playing shoot-'em-up video games, that's a huge step in the right direction." One example she gave of a situation that would be in the game was a scenario of a school attempting to stop students from wearing a T-shirt with a controversial slogan. The sceanario is designed to provoke discussion about the First Amendment.

　　The Web site will start featuring material in September and will be fully up and running by September 2009.
