PS4's Horror Game Until Dawn Gets Scary New Live-Action Interactive Trailer
PS4's Horror Game Until Dawn Gets Scary New Live-Action Interactive Trailer-October 2024
Oct 27, 2024 12:23 AM

Sony has released a new live-action interactive trailer for its upcoming PlayStation 4 horror game, Until Dawn. The "choose-your-own-adventure" video is quite dark and scary, with the interactive bits meant to demonstrate how the choices you make in the game can have life or death consequences.

This video is part of a miniseries called "Choices" that Sony produced in partnership with MoFilm. There are three options in this first video, and I recommend trying all three, as they each have vastly different outcomes. Be aware that the video's interactive functionality only works on a desktop.

The story continues in a follow-up video from GameStop called "The Road Not Taken." The non-interactive video is inspired by the Robert Frost poem is quite a bit more grim and ominous. We won't spoil it for you.

"It's really about how no matter which direction you choose, that's the choice you make, leading to a life lived regardless of this road or the other road," director Lloyd Choi said. "And in hindsight, that will be the only way you know and you’ll look back on that decision to take this road as meaningful and important."

Until Dawn has been in development for a long time and has even changed platforms. The game, which was previously in development for PlayStation 3 with Move support before shifting to PS4, follows a group of eight friends who take what they think will be a fun trip to a cabin in the mountains. Obviously things don't go as planned and they must fight to survive...until dawn.

GameSpot recently played a portion of Until Dawn and we were intrigued by what we saw.

"Although I was initially doubtful about how much I'd enjoy Until Dawn's campy dialogue and B-grade horror film idiosyncrasies, when my time was up with the game I found it difficult to leave the characters behind, and the story hanging," editor Zorine Te wrote in her preview.

The game--developed by Supermassive Games in the UK--features the voice and likenesses of a handful of celebrity actors, including Hayden Panettiere (Heroes, A Bug's Life), Rami Malek (Need for Speed, Night at the Museum),and Peter Stormare (Fargo, The Big Lebowski). The Until Dawn release date is set for August 25.
