3D Realms and Interceptor Entertainment today announced Bombshell, an upcoming top-down action role-playing game in development for PC and PlayStation 4. In the game, you play as Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison, who "strong-arms her way across four planets in an Unreal Engine-powered galactic adventure to save the U.S. president from an apocalyptic alien threat."
Bombshell promises "out-of-this-world" alien enemies, "devastating" weaponry, and various genre-blending game mechanics. The game arrives sometime in 2015, but there's no explanation as to why Bombshell is skipping the Xbox One and Wii U.
As you can see in the trailer above, Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison has a bionic right arm and rides a motorcycle. The PC version of the game will support mods, Interceptor writes on its website. "We are big supporters of modding tools and we strive to release them for every game we make."
Interceptor Entertainment developed 2013's Rise of the Triad, and most recently was revealed as the developer of a new Duke Nukem game. However, a lawsuit from Gearbox Software is keeping that game on the shelf, at least for now.
"Lawsuits take time, and are often a long, drawn-out process. Meanwhile, we wanted to be productive--our creative team couldn't wait around for the issue to be resolved," Interceptor Entertainment says. "Ultimately, we saw it as the opportunity to create our own intellectual property, and Bombshell was born. So far, it's been a blast."
"It's impossible to say what will happen in regards to our previous project. It might return, it might not. We want to make great games without sacrificing our integrity, and Bombshell allows us to do that beautifully," the studio added.
