Super Meat Boy, the acclaimed platformer that was originally released in 2010 for Xbox 360 and PC, is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita this fall, developer Team Meat announced today.
Team Meat co-founder Tommy Refenes says in a post on the PlayStation Blog that the developer was previously prohibited from bringing Super Meat Boy to PlayStation 3 for "very complicated reasons."
Those "reasons," most likely some kind of exclusivity arrangement with Microsoft, have now been worked out such that Team Meat can bring Super Meat Boy to PlayStation consoles.

"We actually never ever EVER thought this day would come and it makes us both so happy that it's finally here! We know this has been a long time coming but better late than never," Refenes said.
Super Meat Boy will be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers when it's released later this year. "That's our way of saying, 'Thank you for waiting patiently' to all those PlayStation fans...," Refenes said.
For what it's worth, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said that an Xbox One version of Super Meat Boy "would be great."
The development of Super Meat Boy was a central storyline in 2010's documentary, Indie Game: The Movie. For a closer look at the new PlayStation version of Super Meat Boy, check out some images in the gallery below.
