Jan 10, 2025 6:14 AM

Konami of America announced on Friday that it is currently developing a track-and-field game for the PlayStation2. According to a Konami, the game will be finished in time for the being of next year's Olympics Games in Sydney, Austrailia next September (which also happens to be the projected launch period for the PlayStation2 in the US). A spokesperson for the company stated that Konami hopes to "produce the most authentic track-and-field game ever."

Maurice Greene, three-time gold medalist at the 1999 World Championships, has performed motion captures for the game, and he will play an integral part in ensuring its quality. According to Konami, Greene is an avid gamer himself.

Previously, GameSpot News has reported that Konami is currently developing several sports titles for the PlayStation2 platform that will be ready for the console's US launch. Insiders have hinted that a new installment in the Zone basketball series may make an appearance. Hopefully, we'll have more details on the track-and-field game, as well as any others, shortly. Stay tuned.
