Yesterday, Valve released Proton 8, the new version of their translation layer that lets Linux users play a lot of Windows PC games.

According to Valve's Pierre-Loup Griffais, Proton 8 is the biggest release to date, adding many new games to the compatibility list, including the Dead Space remake and Forspoken. Here's the full list:

Multi-touch support has been improved across the board, force feedback compatibility has been improved in Forza Horizon 5 and BeamNG, raytracing functionality has been fixed in Crysis Remastered, and multiplayer support has been improved in Company of Heroes III, just to name a few.

There's good reason to believe Valve will continue expanding Proton since they have a strong incentive to do so due to their own Steam Deck hardware using it as well. We'll keep reporting on any notable additions and improvements; stay tuned.
