According to a report from The Korea Times, PUBG Corp is actually suing Epic Games about Fortnite Battle Royale.

　　In fact, a PUBG Corp representative confirmed last Friday that an injunction alleging copyright infringement was filed in January with the Seoul Central District Court.

　　This doesn't come out of the blue, as the developers of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds had shared a press release on this very topic in September 2017.

　　Chang Han Kim, Vice President and Executive Producer for Bluehole Inc. (now of PUBG Corporation):

　　We’ve had an ongoing relationship with Epic Games throughout PUBG’s development as they are the creators of UE4, the engine we licensed for the game. After listening to the growing feedback from our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, we are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known.

　　We have also noticed that Epic Games references PUBG in the promotion of Fortnite to their community and in communications with the press. This was never discussed with us and we don’t feel that it’s right.

　　The PUBG community has and continues to provide evidence of the many similarities as we contemplate further action.

　　PUBG Corp also recently filed a lawsuit against NetEase in the US District Court – Northern District of California for the complaints of copyright infringement, trade dress infringement, and unfair competition. However, it's worth noting that both mobile games (Knives Out and Rules of Survival) are much more similar to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds than Fortnite Battle Royale. Just on the surface level, Epic's game clearly uses a completely different art style and is known to have unique gameplay features such as the building mechanics.

　　It's difficult to imagine the copyright infringement claim will hold up in court, though admittedly stranger things have happened. What's your opinion on the matter, dear readers?
