Project Torque MMO to feature amBX-November 2024
Nov 1, 2024 11:24 PM

Aeria Games and Entertainment's Project Torque, currently in public beta and due to go live in the first quarter of 2008, will be compatible with the amBX gaming peripherals.

The MMO racing game allows up to 32 players to race against each other simultaneously, have real tracks from around the world alongside fantasy tracks, and will also allow gamers to tune and modify their cars. It will be free to play, and will feature a series of competitions with monetary prizes.

amBX stands for 'Ambient Experiences' and aims to make games as immersive as possible. Created by Philips, a series of peripherals work with compatible games including Jericho, Overlord, and TOCA Race Driver 3, to direct such things as surround lighting, rumble, and air movement around the gamer.

However, the amBX game gear doesn't come cheap--the Starter Pack which features a game lighting kit weighs in at $150, whereas the Premium Kit, which contains speakers, a game lighting kit, fans and a wrist rumbler will set you back $250. The gear can be bought online from stores like GameStop in the US and Gamestation in the UK.
