So WrestleMania is returning to Detroit, the site of the (alleged) largest WM crowd ever back during WrestleMania III. I remember watching WM III live on pay per view; I probably still have the tape of it somewhere. The image that most distinctly comes back to me is then-color announcer Jesse "The Body" Ventura mouthing the words on the teleprompter as play-by-play man Vince McMahon did the outro after the show was over. I was pretty young then--well, young-ish--and I remember thinking to myself, "Wait a minute, those guys are READING? They're not making it up as they go along?" I suppose that was the first chink in the pro wrestling's fantastical armor that cracked for me. And even though my mark days are long behind me, I still enjoy keep up with everything that's going on with the WWE and, to a lesser extend TNA. Even if my weekly routine of wrestling consists of fast-forwarding through TIVO'd versions of RAW, SmackDown and TNA, I still consider myself a fan.

　　Which is why I'm excited to be heading to Detroit for my third straight WrestleMania event with THQ. Once again I won't actually be GOING to WrestleMania--which sucks because I'll be missing the pay per view, as well as the WWE Hall of Fame inductions of JR, Jerry Lawler, and Dusty Rhodes, among others. Still, I will be getting a chance to interview a bunch of WWE wrestlers (and maybe a Diva or two for good measure). No idea who will be on hand this year for THQ's annual SmackDown tournament, though we do know that perennial winner Shelton Benjamin has officially "retired" from the event. Still if you've got anything you've wanted to know from a WWE vet, let me know and I'll try to ask them. Just as long as it isn't anything about steroids. Those guys are way bigger than me.
