Pokemon Black/White sells 77,000 units Down Under
Pokemon Black/White sells 77,000 units Down Under-January 2024
Jan 3, 2025 7:49 PM

Pokemon Black and White has proved to be a smash hit for Nintendo, breaking franchise records in the US not once, but twice, moving more than 2 million units within its first two weeks of going on sale. Now Nintendo Australia has announced that the latest Pokemon games have enjoyed similar success Down Under.

Having launched in Australia on March 10, the two latest titles in the Pokemon franchise managed to sell more than 77,000 units in the first seven days. Not only does this make Pokemon Black and White the highest-selling week-one game in the Pokemon franchise, but it's also the best week-one-performing Nintendo game across all platforms. In comparison, Pokemon HeartGold Version and SoulSilver Version moved more than 45,000 units during week one of sales, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii narrowly topped it at 47,400 during its first seven days.

It's important to note that this figure comes from internal Nintendo data collected by retailers, not from independent data trackers GfK Australia, which usually provides sales data.
