When it comes to the fighting game scene in Southeast Asia, both Singapore and Thailand have been busy as of late. The Philippines will be next in line thanks to the upcoming efforts of local fighting game community site Pinoy 2D Fighters.
The group will be holding a tournament called Oktoberfist. It will be held on October 15 on the third floor of the Emporio Building, located on Sgt. Fabian Yabut Circle at Makati City. The games used will be the PS3 versions of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and Mortal Kombat. The former will be a two-on-two double-elimination tournament, while the latter will be a single-man double-elimination tournament. The tournaments will start at 1 p.m.
Fighting game shenanigans abound in the Philippines this Saturday. The entrance fees are 200 pesos per head for the SSFIV:AE tournament and 150 pesos for the Mortal Kombat tournament. The first- and second-place winners will win cash from the total pot.
