Veteran game developer Peter Molyneux's UK studio 22Cans has undergone a round of layoffs. Multiple employees were let go in the move, but the precise number of cuts was not made public.
A spokesperson confirmed to GI.biz that the layoffs at the Fable designer's studio were due to a variety of reasons. "Unfortunately, due to a number of factors including projects reaching a certain stage in their development, we can confirm that a number of roles at 22cans have been made redundant," the statement said. "Development at the studio is continuing, however."
Affected staff are being provided assistance to find new jobs, the report said.
Founded in 2012 after Molyneux left Microsoft, 22Cans made a splash with the mobile game/social media experiment, Curiosity: What's Inside the Cube?, going on to produce the Kickstarter game Godus in 2014. 22Cans later released a game called The Trail, and it's now working on a title called Legacy.
