Pennant Chase Baseball's Need for Speed
Pennant Chase Baseball's Need for Speed-January 2024
Jan 11, 2025 6:45 AM

It's a standard gripe about baseball, both real and virtual: the games take too long to play. Playing hardball games on a pitch-by-pitch basis can make for a long season, especially if you're the kind of gamer that refuses to leave games to chance via a simulation or manager mode. Enter Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball's speed play mode, a streamlined form of hitting the bases--where pitching and batting take the forefront, and fielding plays second fiddle. Games that normally take 40 minutes or more, can be condensed into 15 minute sessions and still give you control over what happens on the field.

There's still a lot more of PCB we're waiting to see, and a lot of questions to be answered regarding how the game plays. The inclusion of a mode such as speed play, however, means that at the very least, Nintendo and developers Exile Interactive are aiming to deliver a sports game consisting of something more than your standard set of modes and features.
