Overwatch 2 is Charging $15 for 3 PvE Missions After Previously Promising 100s of Them-September 2024

As you may have heard, Blizzard recently announced they’ve canceled the PvE co-op component of Overwatch 2, opting instead to stick to the F2P model they launched last year. But wait, it’s not that simple! It turns out, Blizzard will be delivering a handful of Overwatch 2 PvE story missions, although you’ll have to pay a pretty penny for them.

The PvE missions will be part of the Overwatch 2: Invasion season, which kicks off in August. Players can jump into three PvE story missions, at a cost of $15. And that’s not all – you can also buy an “Ultimate Invasion Bundle” for a whopping $40. Get the details below…

“In Overwatch 2: Invasion, you and your friends can take on three action-packed missions that take place in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg—massive maps with complex objectives, and an in-depth storyline that will guide you along the way. You’ll fight against the intensified forces of Null Sector, who will continue to attack until you’ve completely dismantled them. Stay alert for challenging enemies that haven’t been encountered before, such as the powerful Artillery and the deadly Stalkers.”

Many of those missions would be simpler “Hero missions,” rather than more in-depth story missions, but still, it's clear that Blizzard originally aimed to offer Overwatch players a much meatier package. What we’re getting instead feels like they're overcharging for whatever scraps they could salvage from the failed Overwatch 2 failed PvE experiment.

Overwatch 2: Invasion will also include the usual array of other features, including a new support hero, mode (Flashpoint), co-op-focused event, and more. You can get more details on the season here.

Overwatch 2 can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Switch. Season 5, which offers new fantasy-themed skins and challenges, but no new hero, kicks off today (June 13). Meanwhile, the big Invasion season kicks off on August 10.
