The idea of a PG-13 rated Deadpool 2 might seem completely ridiculous, given the very adult content of that movie, but it's happening. Once Upon A Deadpool is a new version of this summer's irreverent superhero sequel, with new footage and (obviously) some of the language and violence toned down. The first trailer has now been released.
The trailer features Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) sitting with former child star Fred Savage, who is best known for the long-running show The Wonder Years and the 1987 fantasy comedy The Princess Bride. In a pastiche of Savage's role in the latter, Savage sits in bed while Deadpool tells him about the new movie. Except in this case, Deadpool has tied him up. Check it out above.

Now Playing: Once Upon A Deadpool - Official Trailer
Once Upon A Deadpool is only having a limited theatrical run in the US, from December 12 through to December 24. Earlier this month, it was reported that eight new scenes had been shot, all of which were filmed in a single day. The rest of the movie will consist of toned down versions of the same footage from the R-rated cut.
Another element of Once Upon a Deadpool is that it's going to be a vehicle to help drive awareness and raise money for cancer research. $1 from every ticket sold will go to the F**k Cancer campaign, but it'll be called "Fudge Cancer" at ticket sales locations.
In an interview with Deadline, Reynolds spoke about the movie. "Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006," he said. "I've said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said 'Yes' on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…"
Deadpool 2 opened in May this year, and it made $734 million during its theatrical run. The 2016 original was a bigger hit, bringing in more than $780 million at the box office. Those are massive figures, all but ensuring there will be a third Deadpool movie sometime down the road.
