Early 2007 continues to be a time of recognition of all things 2006, as the results from awards shows continue to pile in. The latest comes from Japan Media Arts Plaza, an online hub of "creative activities and development of media arts."
On its Web site, the association recently announced its awards for 2006, which recognize achievements in "creative media art works" using technology.
Taking the grand prize in the entertainment division was artist Hideki Kamiyama for his work on Capcom's Okami. According to the judges, the award was given for its "beautiful graphics and distinct style of presentation."
Other games recognized in the entertainment division include the Nintendo DS game Shaberu! DS Oryouri Navi (Talking DS Cooking Navigator) and Rhythm Tengoku for the Game Boy Advance. Previous winners of the festival's awards include Nintendogs, WarioWare: Twisted, Pictochat, Onimusha 3, and EyeToy Play.
