Mind Control Software's award-winning PC game Oasis has reached completion and is now available for download at Shockwave.com. In 2004, the game won both the Seumas McNally Award for Independent Game of the Year and the award for innovation in game design at the Independent Games Festival.
Since that time, chief designers Andrew Leker and Marc LeBlanc have kept the game in a beta state and have let users test it for free. With today's announcement, however, Oasis is finally available for purchase (at a price point of $19.95).
The game is being distributed by PlayFirst, a startup that sells and also distributes games to popular gaming destinations such as MSN Games, Real Arcade, and the aforementioned Shockwave.com.
Oasis is a turn-based strategy game that casts players as the leader of a tribe of people lost in the desert. As players explore towns, mines, and treasures, they must prepare to defend against an impending barbarian invasion that occurs when their turns run out.
