Nvidia scored a small victory over its rival ATI in the graphics-chips wars this week. The Santa Clara, California-based GPU beat out its Canadian counterpart for the exclusive rights to bundle its graphics processing units (GPUs) with Call of Duty 2. Under the deal, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, Nvidia is now the "preferred platform" for Activision's much-anticipated World War II shooter.
In a statement to the press, Nvidia announced that it and its manufacturing partners were readying a series of bundles that will ship "simultaneously with the retail launch of Call of Duty 2." So far, BFG, XFX, and EVGA are all offering a free copy of Call of Duty 2 with their versions of the GeForce 7800 GT GPU. The MSRP for the 7800 GT is officially $449, but the GPU can be obtained for as low as $339 from online merchants.
