Nintendo Switch Touchscreen Shown Off For First Time
Nintendo Switch Touchscreen Shown Off For First Time-September 2024
Sep 20, 2024 8:38 AM

Nintendo Switch has a touchscreen--except, until now, it hasn't been shown off. Thankfully, an impressions video from YouTuber GamingWithMe finally demonstrates the screen's touch capabilities in action.

The video showcases Skylanders Imaginators running on Switch, with menus controllable using a touch interface. Check it out for yourself below.

It's currently unclear if any Switch games will use the system's touch controls for anything other than menu screens. Touch controls in menus were disabled during GameSpot's recent Nintendo Switch hands-on.

Following a bout of rumors, Nintendo finally confirmed the Switch's touch capabilities in its January livestream event. The screen will feature capacitive touch--a departure from the cheaper resistive screens found in the DS, 3DS, and Wii U. For more, you can check out all the news and videos from the Nintendo Switch Presentation.

Skylanders Imaginators is one of the seven confirmed Switch launch titles. The other six are: 1-2-Switch, The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, Just Dance 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I Am Setsuna, and Super Bomberman R. For all the games confirmed to be coming to Switch--but not necessarily at launch--take a look at our roundup.

The Switch launch lineup could continue to grow between now and release in March, but it's unlikely there will be as many launch titles as there were for Wii U, which had 23. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime recently spoke out to stress that launch is "not the be-all and the end-all."

  Nintendo Switch launches March 3.
