Nintendo Store Update: Super Bonk slams Virtual Console
Nintendo Store Update: Super Bonk slams Virtual Console-November 2024
Nov 1, 2024 5:37 AM

Nintendo rings in the first full week of April with a slew of new releases across its three download destinations including a Super NES adventure game, a fishing title, and a baseball management game.

Bonk is back. Leading the pack this week is Hudson's Super Bonk (800 Wii points, or $8) for the Virtual Console. Originally released on the Super NES, Super Bonk has players adventuring through caves, on streets, and in outer space as protagonist Bonk. Players can eat meat to give Bonk more powerful attacks and can use a range of items to help Bonk overcome the game's obstacles.

Switching to WiiWare, Nintendo added one new game and a demo to the download spot today. The new game out now is Planet Fish (500 Wii points, or $5). From Ludia, the single-player game has players trapping and collecting fish from environments like the Gulf of Mexico, the Ryuku Islands, and Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

The WiiWare demo out now is for A Monsteca Corral: Monsters vs. Robots. The game is set on a planet called Monsteca, a world that has been overrun by robots. Gamers play as the planet's inhabitants, the not-so-bright Stompies, and must work together to combine their strength and topple the machines.

Nintendo added three new DSiWare games to its download spot for on-the-go gamers, the first of which is Absolute Baseball (500 Wii points, or $5). From Tasuke, the game has players managing a baseball team from its inception to a possible championship.

Also out now on DSiWare is Lemon Games' A Fairy Tale (500 DSi points, or $5). The puzzle game follows the journey of adolescent faeries Angelica, Delfbert, and Wilf. The game sports 100 distinct levels as well as a "humorous" narrative component.

The last new game out this week is Anonymous Notes Chapter 1: From the Abyss (200 DSi points, or $2). A role-playing game from Sonic Powered, the game has players sweeping through dungeons, ridding the environment of baddies, ultimately leading to a boss battle at the end.
