Nintendo is bringing its Famicom Detective Club games to the West more than 30 years after their original release. As announced during the February 2021 Nintendo Direct broadcast, Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind are both coming to the Switch this May, and they feature updated visuals, new music, and other modernizations.
The two games are visual novels that task players with uncovering the truth behind mysterious murders. In The Missing Heir, Nintendo says players will need to "solve a complex murder case surrounding a wealthy family in a haunted village while dealing with amnesia." The Girl Who Stands Behind, meanwhile, tasks players to "investigate a supernatural rumor after a mysterious death to free students from a sinister nightmare."

Now Playing: Famicon Detective Club - Official Announcement Trailer| Nintendo Direct
Both Famicom Detective Club games have been updated with brand-new artwork, music, and voicework. Nintendo says you'll also have the option to play the games with their original 8-bit soundtracks.
Both titles release on Switch on May 14 and retail for $35 USD apiece. If you purchase one game from the Nintendo eShop, you can pick up the other one from Nintendo's storefront for $10 off. The titles are available to preorder now.
There were a lot of other announcements in the February Nintendo Direct. We also got our first looks at a new Mario Golf game as well as an expansion pass for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Arguably the biggest announcement, however, was Splatoon 3, which is coming to Switch in 2022. You can catch up on all the news from the Nintendo Direct in our roundup.
