Nintendo of America Inc. has partnered with IPNet Solutions Inc. to make its electronic registration program, commonly used by big-name retailers such as Best Buy, Sears, and Wal-Mart, affordable for smaller retailers.
Through this program, a scanner at the point-of-sale retrieves a product's serial number. The serial number is then stored in the retailer's database, and simultaneously transmitted to Nintendo HQ. For consumers, this system allows for accurate warranty coverage and expedient returns and service. For retailers, it cuts down on the number of fraudulent returns of working products.
"This product is not only a breakthrough for Nintendo, but our retailers and customers as well," says Peter Junger, director of field services, Nintendo of America. "This program exemplifies Nintendo's goal to provide the best products and services for customers and business partners."
