As the Switch gets closer to starting its seventh year, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has dismissed rumors that the console's successor has been shown off behind closed doors. According to Japanese publication Mainichi (via VGC), Furukawa has denied these rumors and has labeled them as "inaccurate" and "untrue" during a private earnings call on Tuesday.

　　Additionally, it's claimed that the president also referenced a recent patent application for a Nintendo device with multiple screens and implied that there are no such plans for such a console.

　　Earlier this year, reports of tech demos being shown to select game developers at Gamescom began circulating, with one of these demos reportedly being a more-powerful-Switch version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

　　Nintendo has remained tight-lipped about its next console, but it has been widely speculated that it'll launch in 2024. One promising sign for this Switch successor is that the transition will be smoother as the Nintendo Account system in place on the Switch will carry forward to whatever comes next.

　　In another report, the tech analysts at Digital Foundry have suggested that a custom Nvidia processor will power the next Nintendo console. Meanwhile, the Switch continues to do well, as for the six months ending on September 30, 2023, Nintendo posted an operating profit of $1.9 billion and lifetime sales of the Switch have reached 132.46 million units.

　　The software side is also doing good business as the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie "positively impacted" sales of Mario games, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Overall, game sales have exceeded 1.13 billion so far.
