Less than a month ago, Square Enix revealed that its new action role-playing Nier was, well, near. Having announced it with a wide 2010 release window, the Japanese publisher said that its new intellectual property would arrive for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this spring. Today, Square Enix put a fine point on the game's release window, saying that Nier would arrive on North American retail shelves on April 27.
After curing the plague, Nier will declare war on homonyms. In the action role-playing game, players will take control of the eponymous protagonist as he fights to cure an apocalyptic plague and save his daughter. In addition to engaging in blood-soaked combat, gamers will spend time boosting Nier's armory, buffing his spells, and working with a shifting assortment of allies.
Nier is being developed by Cavia, the studio behind Bullet Witch and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage and interview with Yosuke Saito below.
