Jan 7, 2025 1:46 PM

Following a leak, Bandai Namco has officially announced a remastered version of Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on September 20. The news came just ahead of Tuesday morning's Nintendo Direct.

This remastered edition will feature 1080p resolution at 60fps on PlayStation 4, while Pro users can bump that up to 4K/30fps or 1440p/60fps. The Nintendo Switch version runs at 720p/30fps but is the first handheld iteration of the game.

Now Playing: Ni No Kuni PS4 Remastered Breathtaking Gameplay | E3 2019

Ni No Kuni tells the story of a young boy named Oliver who travels to a magical land in hopes of bringing back his departed mother. The combat is somewhat similar to Pokemon, with a variety of strange creatures to recruit and add to your party. It was followed by Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, which switched up the combat system but retained the same painterly art style.

"Ni no Kuni is a stupendous game because there's so much to do in it, and because all of it is just so good," Kevin VanOrd wrote in GameSpot's review. "The hallmark of the greatest RPGs is that you don't want to stop playing them, and Ni no Kuni proudly joins that elite group of games providing such an enticing world that you can't imagine never having visited it. The only problem, of course, is that you may never want to leave."
