For the first time in quite a long time, a new Assassin's Creed game will not release this year, as the team is trying working to release the best possible open world game. However, there's the chance that this yet to be titled game not not release next year, according to what has been recently revealed Ubisoft's CEO in a recent interview.

　　Speaking with GameSpot, Ubisoft's CEO has been asked about this year's hiatus for the series, noting how the team wants to take all the time required to make the experience fantastic. This hiatus was also feasible due to the fact that Ubisoft has other titles.

　　What we saw in the development of the next [Assassin's Creed] was that we had an opportunity to take it to another level. So we said we'll take all the time it takes to make the experience fantastic. It was feasible because we have other games. There's a huge potential in this game to revolutionise the IP, so we said, "Let's make sure we change our model so we have more time and that we can bring back a greater experience."

　　With the team taking as much time as needed, it's also possible that the game may not release in 2017, as the series will be back when it's ready, which is definitely an interesting statement, considering the series' previous yearly releases.

　　It will be back when it's ready. That's when we feel we have something there.

　　In the same interview, Yves Guillemot also revealed that Michel Ancel, creator of Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil is also working with Ubisoft on an unannounced game.

　　He's doing two things. He has one game that he is doing as an independent and he's also working on a game with Ubisoft.

　　Even without a new game, the Assassin's Creed series will still be back this year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with the Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection, which includes the three entries of the series starring Ezio Auditore.
