Newman's Own Gets Into Tonic Trouble
Newman's Own Gets Into Tonic Trouble-October 2024
Oct 28, 2024 8:16 AM

Ubi Soft announced today that its upcoming title, Tonic Trouble, is going to do a lot more good than the competition by promoting Newman's Own Charities. Newman's Own Popcorn will play a key role as a snack food that will help save the world.

If you don't know, Newman's Own is a company founded by actor Paul Newman that donates 100 percent of its after-tax profits to educational and charitable causes.

The popcorn will function as a power-up in the game. When Ed, the main character, eats the snack he becomes SuperEd - a hulk-like character that performs extraordinary feats.

Newman's face and the Newman's Own logo will be found in the game adorning popcorn machines throughout the game along with a special game sequence that will advertise what Newman's Own does for charities. PC buyers of the game will also get a free package of Newman's Own popcorn in box. For a six month period around the release of the game, a US$10 rebate coupon will be found on the back of Newman's Own Popcorn. For each rebate form sent to Ubi Soft, the company will donate $1 to Newman's Own "Hole in the Wall Gang" camp in France.

Tonic Trouble centers on Ed, an alien who accidentally drops a radioactive can onto Earth. The can begins to mutate Earth's inhabitants and Ed's mission is to save the Earth and its creatures from the harmful effects of the can. Ubi Soft's action adventure title is set for a November release for the PC and the Nintendo 64. The game will make its first appearance at E3 in Atlanta.
