At Sony's Comdex keynote presentation yesterday, the company showed off some new technical demos for the PlayStation2 hardware. The first demo displayed all sorts of matter, including two head-shaped statues floating in a room with several light sources. Then Sony showed off a demo featuring a room with a glass light fixture in it and panned around the room. The PlayStation2 hardware flawlessly rendered the glass - perfectly emulating real light reflection - in real time. And the final demo showed off birds flying through a barn. The technical feat of this demonstration was that none of the birds moved on a predetermined path - they all had their own line of sight, and due to their will to flock together, they would fly in a group.
