Only a month after Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer's release, 3DO is already working on its next game in the venerable RPG series. This morning, the company announced that Legends of Might and Magic, a new spin-off to the series, will be publicly unveiled at this year's E3 in Los Angeles.
The game lets players choose from up to six character classes and adventure through four distinct worlds in their search for a madman bent on traveling back in time to change the course of history for the worse. Bringing this world to life will be Monolith's LithTech 2.0 engine, which 3DO licensed earlier last year. In what's a first for the series, Legends of Might and Magic will have a complete multiplayer component already installed. Up to six players will be able to travel throughout the game in a cooperative effort, or battle up to 15 other gamers in a deathmatch skirmish.
No release date has been given for Legends of Might and Magic. The game is still very early in development. However, 3DO will be showing the game to the public at E3, so expect full coverage from us then. In the meantime, take a look at the attached screenshots.
