Namco Bandai has announced JRPG Tales of Zestiria, a new entry in its long-running Tales series.

　　The game will be released in Japan solely for PlayStation 3 at some point during 2014, with Namco Bandai confirming that the latest title in the series would eventually be released in North America and Europe.

　　Tales of Zestiria will also commemorate the 20th anniversary for the series' original release in Japan. The new title will be the 15th core game in the colourful role-playing series, which stretches to more than 30 games when its various spin-offs are included.

　　Despite announcement of a new game, however, Namco Bandai is yet to date the previous game in the series, Tales of Xillia 2, for a release outside of Japan. The sequel is due for a Western release sometime in 2014.

　　But does this mean that a Western release of Tales of Zestiria might be bumped back to as late as 2015? Writing on the PlayStation Blog, producer Hideo Baba said the team was working to "strengthen" the series outside of Japan.

　　"The Tales Of team has been working hard to strengthen our relationship with overseas fans over the past few years," said Baba, "and have seen the fruits of our labour with the success of Tales of Xillia which has sold over a million copies worldwide."

　　"The Tales Of team would like to thank all of the fans around the world for their continued support and extend a warm welcome to new fans to the series as well."
