Westwood removed some of the secrecy surrounding the upcoming Tiberian Sun expansion pack called Firestorm this morning. The game's multiplayer component will come with a feature called World Domination, which is a persistent world that will reside on the Westwood Online gaming service.
This is how World Domination will work: Players will log onto Westwood Online and choose to play on the side of either NOD or GDI. Each player will then find a continent - Europe or North America - broken up into four sectors, and each of these sectors will then be made up of 30 smaller territories. Players will fight against each other in either one-on-one or two-on-two battles in a persistent battle over these 30-plus territories. The match ends once either the GDI or NOD forces take over all four sectors of either continent.
"World Domination lets players take part in a global struggle, not just one mission," says Westwood Online executive producer Steve Wetherill. "Every C&C fan has a strong allegiance to either GDI or Nod, and now they can help their chosen faction take over the world. It will be fascinating to watch the war rage and see which side will take control."
Firestorm will be available sometime in March and will require a full retail copy of Tiberian Sun.
