Ensemble Studios, the developer responsible for the popular Age of Empires real-time strategy series, has released a new screenshot from its current project, a 3D real-time strategy game called Age of Mythology. The screenshot shows off some of the capabilities of the all-new 3D engine that was created for the game. The scene depicts a group of Viking-like warriors landing their ships on a beach while group of what look like Egyptians stand ready nearby. Advanced effects like shadows, ripples and splashes in the water, and footsteps left in the sand can also be seen in the image.
Age of Mythology will feature three cultures fighting for control of the world. Players will assume control one civilization, and they must manage armies, heroes, resources, and mythical creatures and win the favor of the gods in order to be successful. Ensemble Studios plans to demonstrate the game at this year's E3, which will be held next month in LA. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game. No release date or publisher has been announced at this time.
