A new version of 989 Sports' long-running basketball series NBA ShootOut will be hitting the original PlayStation in September. Of course, the game will feature all 29 NBA teams with fully updated rosters, as you'd expect from a yearly sports franchise. Thankfully, ShootOut 2004 will offer a few updates to the classic game of hoops as well.
The AI has been reworked in ShootOut 2004 to be much more intelligent and realistic. The computer will now manage passes, fouls, and time-outs better, and it will pay closer attention to the clock as well. The game will have up-to-date playbooks with more than 450 team-specific plays. 989 consulted Stephon Marbury, Chris Webber, and Jason Kidd, among others, in constructing these plays. Create-a-player and create-a-dunk modes will give you even more control over your B-ball experience. Even Ian Eagle's many hours of recorded commentary will be upgraded--he's now joined by Bill Walton.
We'll bring you more on NBA ShootOut 2004 as it becomes available.
