NBA: 'No Thanks' to Exclusivity
NBA: 'No Thanks' to Exclusivity-September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 1:37 AM

It looks like the NBA doesn't want any part of an exclusive licensing deal for videogames. In today's earnings call held by Take-Two, the publisher's president and CEO Paul Eibeler commented that though his company hopes "to have more to say on the NBA in the coming weeks" he later admitted that the NBA is a different market and would like to retain its nonexclusive status with game makers.

So, if the NBA isn't ready to put all its eggs in one publishing basket, what could Take-Two be getting ready to announce? A new partnership with TNT (which broadcasts several NBA games a week) to develop the presentation of this year's b'ball title, perhaps? It's all speculation at this point but here's hoping the news--whatever it is--is something more interesting than just the announcement of NBA 2K6.
