Announced earlier this year, Nano Breaker is a PlayStation 2-exclusive action game from Koji Igarashi, the Konami producer responsible for the long-running Castlevania series. Set in a futuristic world ravaged by man-made nanomachines, the game will see you assuming the role of a military cyborg named Jake Warren who is torn between his human emotions and his deadly machine instincts.
The nanomachines, it seems, are attempting to construct their own army of monster machines, and in order to facilitate that they are relentlessly harvesting the blood of humans and the iron of buildings. Entire populations and colonies will have already been assimilated at the start of the game, and humankind's only hope is, a little predictably, you. Fortunately you'll be armed with a powerful shape-shifting plasma blade with which to slash your way through the nanomachine hordes. Those of you who choose to skip the simplified novice mode will also be able to perform an array of advanced combo attacks as you progress through the game.
According to Konami, Nano Breaker will boast a "huge world to explore featuring armies of enemies" as well as "extreme over-the-top visual CG cinematic scenes that add more depth and action to the game." We'll bring you more information on the game, which is currently scheduled to ship in during the winter of 2005, as soon as it becomes available.
