Team Solo Mid still reigns supreme at the top of the standings at 19-3. Even with Reginald as a sub in the midlane for two weeks, TSM still managed to stay on top. Trailing right behind is Cloud 9 at 18-4, who still have the chance to secure the top spot by the time the season ends. In third place is Counter Logic Gaming. Losses early in the season hit them hard but they are still making strides towards top two each week. Tied for fourth place is Team Dignitas and Curse who both have had trouble with roster changes this season, leading them to a negative W/L ratio of 9-13. In 6th place is Coast, who have had small blimps of brilliance but have failed to stay consistent. Evil Geniuses fell down to 7th place as three members of the main roster were stuck in Europe for VISA issues last week, causing a temporary roster to go 0-2. In last place is XDG, who have fallen from 3rd place in the last season due to questionable roster changes.
Team Dignitas
The departure of Scarra from the starting roster came as a shock to many. He’s been the face of Dignitas for so long and acted as the team's captain. The addition of Goldenglue this late into the season doesn't bode well for Team Dignitas. But, if they can go even they will most likely avoid an automatic relegation placing. Escaping relegation may prove difficult in the playoffs, as Dignitas doesn't have much time to adapt to a major roster change.
Counter Logic Gaming
As CLG makes a sprint for the top two, they will need to recover from shaky play from last week. While they did win both of their matches last week, CLG wasn’t as convincing as in recent weeks. As playoffs loom closer, CLG will need to focus on more consistent play if they want to clinch a top two finish.
Evil Geniuses
It seems that the hidden LCS boss, the VISA, has struck Evil Geniuses. A temporary roster filled in for EG last week, and it’s still unknown if the three Europeans will make it back in the States in time to play their first game. And even if they make it back in time, they haven’t practiced with their team in two weeks. It looks like EG won’t be able to make it out of an automatic relegation placement.
Coast may be able to squeak by a relegation spot and that burden falls mainly on Shiphtur’s shoulders. He has consistently shown that he is a top mid player in the NA LCS, even with a jungler who is less than ideal. If Coast wants to make a playoff run similar to the one from last season, it’s up to Shiphtur to get them there.
Goldenglue
With only two weeks left in the split, the pressure is on for newcomer Goldenglue. Formerly the midlaner for challenger team Complexity.Red, Goldenglue has yet to be tested in the LCS. At this point in time, Dignitas is just keeping their heads above water. Poor results this week and a disastrous super week could mean a ticket to relegations.
It’s the North American EL Clasico of LoL. Both teams are strong forces in NA and could easily take a game off each other. Team Solo Mid has dominated North America from the start, while CLG has needed time to get going.
The mid lane will be the most interesting lane in this matchup. Bjergsen has been hailed as the missing piece TSM needed. He’s really stepped up to his hype this split and has created an interesting dynamic to the standard North American mid lane. In CLG’s mid lane, the addition of a world class jungler to the team has allowed Link to really put his skill on display. This match will be explosive, and will be a display of North American skill as a whole.
