In celebration of the launch of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's release this Friday, kicking off the summer blockbuster season, theater chain AMC Theatres announced some huge stats about how much food and drinks will be consumed over the coming months.
The company said in a news release that it expects people to order 250 miles worth of hog dogs, which, if lined up end to end, would cover the space between Hollywood and the Hoover Dam.
Eight million pounds of popcorn are expected to be consumed during the summer moviegoing season at AMC Theatres locations. In terms of drinks, AMC predicts that 30 million liters will be consumed, which comes out to around 1 billion ounces.
AMC also announced some new alcoholic beverages coming this summer at its locations that serve booze. These include the "Banana Hammock" for Baywatch and "The Gauntlet" for Wonder Woman.
As Deadline points out, concessions are no small element of AMC's bottom line. In 2016, revenue from food and drinks passed $1 billion for the first time ever.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens this Friday in the United States. It already opened in a number of international markets and has made more than $100 million. For more, check out GameSpot's review.
